Github Setup

You’ll use the same Github Repo as Homework 4 to complete the report.

Time Series Mini Project

For this project, you and your partner should revisit your work in Homework 4 and the feedback you received. You will updated and revise that work for this mini project.

Your goal is to communicate about energy use at Macalester College and the time series methods we use to better understand that energy use. Consider “State, Explain, and Interpret” as you write about the time series modeling.

Use the following template and bibliography file template.

For the time series project, your written communication should include the following:

• Title: A short, informative title

• Abstract: ~100 word description of main topic and conclusion

• Introduction: An introduction to the topic (~ 200 words)

• Data: An introduction to the data (~ 100-200 words, + visualizations)

• Methods (~ 200-250 words excluding equations, no code or visuals)

  • A description and justification of methods used to model & remove trend and seasonality
  • A description and justification of methods used to model left-over correlated noise
  • A description and justification of the model for forecasting in the future

• Results (~200-300 words + code and visuals)

  • A written summary of the fit models for trend, seasonality, and errors (use visuals as evidence)
  • A written summary of the forecast into the future

• Conclusion (~ 150-200 words): A discussion of your overall conclusions about electricity use at Macalester College.
