Mini Project 2

Github Setup

You’ll use the same Github Repo as Homework 6 to complete the report.

Longitudinal Mini Project

For this project, you and your partner should revisit your work in Homework 5 and the feedback you received. You will updated and revise that work for this mini project.

Your goal is to communicate about your research question about the ACTIVE trial and the longitudinal methods we use to better answer that question. Your audience is a Stat 155 audience. Consider “State, Explain, and Interpret” as you write about the longitudinal modeling.

Use the following template and bibliography file template.

For this mini project, your written communication should include the following:

  • Title: A short, informative title

  • Abstract: ~100 word description of main topic and conclusion

  • Introduction: An introduction to the ACTIVE study with parenthetical citations of relevant papers using bibtex and an introduction to your research question and why it is important (~ 200 words)

  • Data: An introduction to the data without using variable names (~ 100-200 words, 1 visualization)

  • Methods (~ 200-250 words excluding equations, no code or visuals)

    • A description and justification of your final model (gee or mixed effects; mean model; covariance model)
  • Results (~200-300 words + code and visuals)

    • Do not show a table of model output; rather, summarize your results based on the model output in words.
    • A written summary of the final fit model; You may want to include a few (~3 or less) relevant coefficient estimates in your summary.
  • Conclusion (~ 150-200 words): A discussion of your conclusions about brain training based on the model and the limitations to the conclusions you can make.
